my 360 has just started to crash on the start of a game, its fine on menu and leading screen but soon as the game starts eg start of a race on forza i got a high pitched noise from tv and then game locks up and i get white broken lines down tv.I cant beleive it as its just over 14 months old.I am defo not buying another 360.

You could try the SOGA as has been said, if that doesn't work then try fixing it yourself. Sounds like a graphics problem, there are loads of guides around.

The Sales Of Goods Act. Under the act it basically says that goods should be fit for purpose and for a satisfactory period of time. Someone will have link.

Apparently if you threaten them with it and say you're going to take them to small claims they just give in. Not really sure how much truth is in that but I've seen it posted quite a few times.

Faulty 360s and accessories still go for a fair price on auction sites, put the remainder towards a new one with a further 12 month warranty.

How much does the extended warranty cost? My 360 is only a week old and I put the box with the documentation up in the loft already.

From reading all these threads I think its a good idea though, can you take out the extended warranty anytime within the first year?

i changed my case on my 360 so i dont think my warranty would be valid anyways.

should't have mod the 360 in the first place. that's why all modded 360 has poorer resale value than an unmodded ones. I'm starting to develop this crazy theory that probably MS made it with 3 rings of death as a feature to combat the modding community? Especially those chipped 360?

Just buy a basic version from now, probably those are more reliable.

I think its a joke really they really should give 2-3 years warranty on these things as standard, its a joke you buy this console and you know there aint much chance it will last you a few years, when mine dies as it will it won't be getting replaced ill get a ps3.

why not just repair it yourself? honestly anyone can do it and it costs about £10 for the screws and some AS5... I have repaired 4 (friends/family etc) now all been running for months without a problem, the success rate is massive.

What is the normal problem with them ?

Is it a heating issue ?

The problem is the x-clamp used to fit the heatsink to the motherboard. Basically what it does is put pressure directly under the cpu/gpu. This causes the motherboard to flex and the solder connections to break. Heat is involved as well, the high temps and then cooling combined with the motherboard slowly flexing equal 3RLOD.

So the solution is removing the x-clamp and mounting the heatsink so it ditributes the pressure evenly. Well microsofts solution is replacing the motherboard as obviosuly that would fix the flexing/brken connections, but the same thing will happen unless the clamp is removed.
