hey guys

so i got diablo 3 today, tried to run it along side WoW. computer crashed after a few mins, i get vertical colours stripes on a blank screen.

Restarted, same issue but this time just with either 1 of the games and only up to the log in screen, then crash.

I have uninstalled, driver swept and reinstalled the past 4-5 driver revisions back to ones i knew worked for other games.

Its been fine everyday playing WoW up to today and now i cant do anything but basic windows usage.

Any ideas what can be the cause of this? I have also reseated the card and cleaned it out with no luck.

Its just odd it all worked fine for a year and a half until today when i tried to run 2 games and now i cant get anything out of it on any drivers.

Thanks for any tips as id rather save myself hundreds on a new graphics card when i dont fully believe this card could be that dead...

Here is an image of the screen i get, colours seem to very on each crash

If you can try it another pc to confirm its the card and not any associated components causing the prob, mobo, psu, etc. if it turns out to be the card. then its replacement time I reckon, but I suppose you could try as a last resort the "oven" trick and bake it for a bit to remelt some of the soldered paths if thats whats causing the prob.

Well, according to your post, everything went fine until you installed DIII, so my guess would be something with that installed game.. Perhaps a conflict with drivers/WoW..
Try uninstalling the game, or even worst, doing a full restore to a previous state of OS..
Remember something: the game is brand new, and drivers are not well developed, yet..
Problems like this happens on every new release..

Best regards.. ;)

Where's dave beast? He's the expert on AMD issues I'm sure he'll help you out.

I had an issue exactly like that on an AMD card a long time ago. Screen would go mental and then flash out on one colour. I had to replace mine unfortunately.

Good luck!

i dont have another pc around unfortunately not really up for putting it in the oven!

I dont believe a game could conflict even when using another game, loading just wow on the drivers also crashes it and ive played wow on every driver version this year.

Games could definitely conflict if running at the same time (not likely, but possible). But that shouldn't cause a problem that persists after the games have shut down.

One thing to try: do a system restore for the time before you installed D3, if you have a restore point. It's the only way short of a reinstall to rule out some software/driver corruption that has occurred since then.

have you tried doing a full cmos clear by removing and leaving out mb battery for 30mins/overnight if needed? then load optimized defaults and re enter all your oc/bios settings

load defaults in ccc panel aswell

nope but if the card artifacting just on the desktop and not loading anything (just tried 3dmark06 and it crashed after 5 seconds) then the cards screwed?

everything in the pc is stock, no OC on anything whilst im fixing this anyway. all default

dont think i registered it, not 100% sure. they say all EU RMA need to be done through seller, so ive contacted OCUk about it. anyone else do it a different way?

I always register my cards, so mine was already on their webpage when I had to claim. Like I said, it took a while, had to send in loads of photo's and details, including repeating myself before they authorised the claim.

im guessing mine isnt registered since i have never had reason to bother with that, anyway to check?
