Aftenoon chaps,

Have had my new rig since november..bought from ocuk and apart from a few issues with the asus board, system has been running well. Stable oc at 4.8 and 2 580's in sli.

So last night i boots up and was surfing for about 30 mins when the system started to stutter and lag badly, was fairly unresponsive and i was about to shut down when it shut itself down. I popped the case door and gave it a look over and could see nothing unusal. Waited a few more mins and rebooted..bios display showed a cpu overheat error so i shut off straight away. I have this cooler

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=HS-002-OP

I noticed the pipes were warm/hot as was the socket that sits on the cpu.
I eft the system for a cpl of hours and restarted..both fans on the radiator are spinning although at full tilt and i get into windows, idle temps were at 85 on each core (i7 2700k 3.5 @4.8) So i shut down altogether at that stage.

So i think it might be a pump failure on the cpu cooler??

Check if there are small vibrations on the pump when you turn on the computer if not then id say its the pump

Thanks for the reply, tried that and felt nothing on the pump so it most likely is the cause. AM just back from buying a H80 so am going to get that on and hope thats it sorted. If so, will return the cooler to ocuk and hopefully get a credit.

Maybe the cable for the pump fell out? Or go in BIOS and for the connector where the pump connected have it running at 100%

Cheers for the replies, it had simply failed. The pump went..i bought a new h80 and things are back to normal. Shame as the oc cooler performed as well, just didnt hold up well in the reliability stakes.
