Think my monitor is on its way out :(

If I'm playing a game and the screen goes dark in game, my monitor switches itself off. I also notice it randomly gets slightly darker from time to time and then gets brighter again. Just there now it went a lot darker than normal and appears to be staying that way, I've unplugged it plugged it back in but it is still dark. There is also a distinctive burning smell that has covered my entire room. Is my monitor on its last legs? If it matters, I have a LG M2762D

The screen is still dull and the smell has only got worse. The monitor is ~26 months old and I have used it probably every day for at least 4 hours. Is it time to buy a new monitor?
