Been asked to look at a Emachines D620. The laptop was working fine one night then on the morning the laptop never turned back on. Upon pressing the power button it sounds like its booting with the fans etc kicking in. Then with-in about 10 seconds the powerlight stays on but the fans stop. All this time the screen is completely blank. I have also plugged a monitor in, also the same.

So far iv changed the HDD and Ram but still the same issues, any ideas?

It may need a bios reset. If you can locate the cmos battery, take it out for about 20 mins then retry. I had something similar when trying to fix someone's laptop. I broke out into a cold sweat as I thought I'd completely killed it
