OK so internet has been slower than normal recently, and I've noticed the modem lights flash more so when nobody is connected, so when I've finished for the day, it's still flashing lots (not just the occassional refreshes).

Also, in my clients list (as seen below) I can see an anonymous person on the list.

Therefore, I ask is there any way I can warn this person or boot him off?

Am not using a server, have my ntl (virgin media as it is now) modem connected to Linksys WRT54G router which sends signals to my pc, mum's pc and my phone. The router is using WPA encryption and I've tried resetting it and changing the key but is still not working!

Can't you just block his MAC address?

Edit:
On my router you have the option to block specific MAC addresses or select just the MAC addresses you want to be able to access it. Have a look see if you can do that.

This sounds unlikely - WPA is very hard to break, and it wouldn't be possible for them to have it cracked as soon as you've changed the key. It's most probably one of the following:

1. Something you have wired in that you've forgotten about.
2. A slow updating table.
3. You're actually using WEP.

If they had indeed managed to crack WPA everytime you change the key, then MAC address filtering really isn't going to cause them the slightest issue.

use a hard wired connection to your router

1) do a hard reset on the router (hold the reset button on for 8 seconds or so)
2) straight away log in and change the routers password so he cant log in
3) set up wpa2 pre shared key if you can, wpa if you cant, with a password random enough not to be guessed
4) laugh as he cant get in

like csmager said. its not likely that he can crack a wpa password that quickly, every time. very unlikely lol

Downside is that if they can connect to the router, they may allready know your computers MAC address and can copy it.

Use net send, and send them a warning, let them know you are aware of their usage and will contact the authorities if they continue...

Check you are using WPA2 and Not just WEP.
Enable MAC filtering and only allow your machines MAC address.

are you sure you haven't plugged a cable into your laptop in the last few days instead of using wireless? If you're using wpa with a good password then there's no way you've been hacked, it will be something else.

Also, whatever it is, it hasn't been connected for at least 20 hours or so

As a start, disable DHCP and give each of your machines a static ip address..? That way you will know for definite someone isn't jumping on and grabbing an address :)

Surely you can boot the anonymous client off by ticking the box on the screen and pressing delete?

Odd that its not in sequence with the other issued IP's, can you confirm its a wireless connection and not say a mac assocaited with part of the router or its access point (soem boxes do have more than 1 mac address)
