Think these are overkill for a Clio?

8 pots and clio. Of course they are overkill. lol.

If you're after some, just stick with 4 pots with 300mm discs. That's plenty enough braking power, even for serious trackday usage.

Yup K-sport stuff is quite good. The brakes I've heard are powerful. But 8 pots? Very much overkill. Clio just needs some decent 4 pots I would have thought?

I toyed with fitting wilwood 4 pots to my Williams. A lot of tracked Valvers,Willaims, 172, 182's etc run those.

I've not come across any Clio's running 8pots, but I think there was a guy who did a 400bhp VAG engine conversion that did....mind you the car was rubbish and kept blowing up. :s

Was kind of a rhetorical question, the standard brakes will stop the car from 100 quicker than a 911 (tested by autocar, how many times it can do this however I'd guess once or twice lol).

4 pots are cnonsidered overkill, 8 is just silly! They'd never fit under proper (i.e. 15 inch) wheels anyway :) I have always hankered over some 4 pots though since having the 19, no real reason apart from they look cool :)

Wilwood 4 pots sit under the Williams speedlines fine, and Valver Turbines too.

What wheels do you have on your 19?

It had 15s before it was killed, got a 172 now. Just can't justify the cost of a nice set of 4 pots really, no need for them :( But they look nice :)

The worrying thing is, there are quite a few people who would consider them ideal for the job and settle for "nothing less"

One day, the internet will understand that manufacturers make a range of products for a reason.....

One day....

What do you mean? that people will think 8pots are going to save them from wrapping the roof around a telegraph pole?

More fool them.

No, that's not what I mean.

The brembo 4pots on my clio are more than enough really, very strong and tireless, and with yours being 200kg lighter I think anything more is overkill really!

Probably intended for one of the clio race series'. Air jacks and hydraulic handbrakes (hyd handbrakes are illegal for road use IIRC).

Exactly what I said - manufacturers produce a range of items for a range of applications. Just as there is no point fitting the latest graphics card to a PC for my grandad, there is no benefit in fitting 8 pot super duper brakes to a featherlight car like the Clio.

Many forum goers seem to just wade in and advise people fit the most expensive and complex solutions where they are not needed and the benefits will not be reaped.

Seen these in the flesh at Japfest the other week. Seemed to be very decent build quality and am currently considering my options on brakes and these are on the shortlist.
The S4 definately needs bigger brakes since the remap as the originals only have one emergency style stop before they are cooked IMO. Would most certainly not be putting it near a track without an upgrade thats for sure!
They may be a bit big to fit under your wheels though, the dimensions are touch and go on the 8 pots under my 18's! Lucky they are happy to cover them under distance selling regs if they are unsuitable (spoke to them on the phone and they have confirmed this too which is reassuring, just as long as I dont scratch them or put fluid through them. Just bolt them on after rotating the originals out of the way to check clearances)

Wait a second, are you suggesting people should think before they post? That's not the OCUK way dammit!
