Morning everybody!

I have a question for those in the AV know. We (my family) have just taken over a pub. We are doing many £££ worth of refurbishment on the pub before opening and included in this is the sound system. the speakers that are scattered around the place are from around 1960 :p

We are going to be setting up the pub as a wifi hotspot, so we will have a decent spec computer setup as the "hub" for all the AV/WiFi/Etc in the pub.

My question is, can i use the computer as the sound system for the pub, efficiently? We can use itunes as the music we want to purchase is available on there, however my AV/Sound is limited to sticking a good soundcard in, and some generic 2.1/headphones for gaming!!!

Do any of you have any suggestions? Or hardware that i could look at?

Thanks a lot!

If you have a good Wi-Fi setup, you could get something like a Squeezebox, and connect that to an amp/s. That way you can stream the music from the PC but don't need the PC in the actual pub.

There are pubs that have a pc with a monitor behind the bar running itunes so no problem there. As for a sound card in all honesty if your pc has onboard sound use that, as for an amp try this link its the amps we use for our pub installs

It does depend on how many zones you want plus how many inputs you want. A typical installation would be
4 zones ie main bar, pool area, outside smoking area and eating area
4 inputs ie music source, sky, microphone and cd player
that setup would give you the advantage of playing any source in any zone independantly ie sky sports in main bar, background music in dining area etc

Hope this helps
