Ok... i was all set to get a 7900gt but im confused now.

Orginally i was going to get it because im in a bind, i need a graphics card fast so i can return a 6600gt with a dodgy fan to a dodgy etailer for a refund. I of course want a gfx card before i return, being a game addict. The 7900gt is 1 slot (which i like) and doesnt need an extra 4 pin ata power cable to be plugged to get enough power, which was necessary because my power supply has a woefull ammount of them, only 4 all used.

However I spotted that 7800gt going cheap on Friday night and went and tried to buy it and some other goodies, one being a power supply. The 7800gt was cut from my order but the power supply was beefed up to a nice 580w model.

So now im confused, my reason for having to get a 7900gt is gone and im not getting that 7800gt so i have to pick a good card out.

So with the power supply thats on the way i guess i can run anything, even SLI. Im thinking an x1800xt at the prices they are now would be my best bet, certainly better then a 7900gt, but im not sure.

If it matters much the rest of my pc is a Amd 3000+ Venice overclocked to 2.6hgz and 1gb of ram.

Im willing to try unlocking or overclocking too.

My budget is about £150 now but if there was something really worth it i might consider stretching, though I expect to buy a new graphics card once the DX10 generation turns up.

Yeah, you really can't argue with the price of the X1800XT256 at the moment. I'll stubbornly maintain that the 7900gt can smoke any X1800XT with the right overclocking, but in terms of value for money, nothing, not even a well overclocked 7900gt, can touch this card at that price.

I can't seem to browse large parts of the site at all :(

Whenever i go to the Ati section under graphics cards, Clearance or B-grade sections i get booted back to the front page.

Is there anything in there that is better then this :
Sapphire ATI Radeon X1800 XT 256MB GDDR3 AVIVO TV-Out/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail (GX-121-SP) @ £144.95 (£170.32 Including VAT at 17.5%) under the this week only offers.

Certainly looks good to me.

That's a stunning price for a stunning card :D

I can really reccomend that you get it :)

If you are will to voltmod and overclock you will get a faster card with the 7900GT.

Many have been getting 11,500 marks and with heavily overclocked x1800xts I have not seen this.

However the x1800 on this week is a good card but the extra overclocking headroom is certainly there with the 7900 GT

I'm not far off ;)

I'm at 11k with the stock ATi cooler, if i was to change the cooling as people are doing with the 7900GT's i'd probably be able to get higher :p
