Thinking about a 4890, no need for DX11

I'm looking for a graphics card to play mainly Source engine games (and others within the last few years) at 1920x1080 on my E8400.

Just now I'm thinking about an XFX 4890. I've already had one and only sold due to a relocation. I've looked at better and more expensive cards but I'm not sure I'm going to get value-for-money out of them as I have no interest in DX11. The power efficiency of the newer 5xxx and 6xxx cards isn't a big selling point to me.

I'm struggling to think of reasons not to get this card.

Thoughts and advice, please.

Eats a bit more than the equivalent new card?

Aside from that, it easily handles any source games.

Vs the 5*** series it's between a 5830 and a 5850

Vs the 6*** series it's slightly below a 6850 which is below a 5850

I had one til very recently, great for CSS and TF2.

It doesn't look like it's worth spending much extra, the 6790 - the modern day equivalent, is around a hundred notes and wouldn't give any noticeable benefits, so you may as well stick with the 4890. It'll run source engine games very well.

very good card , especially for the price these days and perfect for non dx11 games

Don't go for anything more as you can get some great prices on these cards.

I'm currently running one for

crysis (ultra settings)
crysis 2 (ultra settings)
battlefield 3 (high settings)
mw (ultra settings)

running at 1920x1080

no issues at all. for the price you can get them sub£100 there is no point if you are not bothered about dx11 etc
