Right, hey there!

Firstly, sorry I haven't posted in the ONE thread, but I had a few other unrelated questions, and its easier to see the answers here.

Okay, well, I really, really like the look of Netbooks, particularly the Aspire One. It is sleek, well priced and looks like it will do everything I want 'on the go' e.g. web browsing, photo storage, word processing etc.

I like the Linux 8GB SSD model, because I don't feel that I need a HDD, and will just buy additional SD cards if I need more space. My first concern about the SSD's is, are the write speeds quite bad? I know they read fast, but in some benchmarks of the system (no idea how reliable they are), the write speeds was about on-par, or worse than the HDD.

Secondly, does anyone know if Acer plan to release any new models or enhance previous ones before Christmas? I was hoping for a 1GB linux model, but it seems that is not possible without upgrading it yourself?

Thirdly - battery power. I will mainly be using this for school, and will probably take on holidays etc as well. My school day is 6 hours, obviously I won't be using it all the time, but I don't feel that the 2.5 hours from the 3 cell is sufficient. I heard that there are 6 cell battery packs available (and have found a few online, albeit around £70+ - I was wondering if there are any models that come with a 6 cell battery as standard, or even bundled?

I have looked on the purple shirt place, the jungle place and the 'play' place with no luck. (Hope that doesn't break rules...)

And finally, will there be any alternatives to the Aspire ONE in the lead up to Christmas? I have looked at the eeePC, but personally, I am not so keen on the design etc.

Your help/replies much appreciated!

Like I said, I deffo want to stick with Linux, it is a much more versatile OS for what I want to do, have used it before, and loved it. Only reason I went back to Windows was a lack of support for some apps, games etc - my main things on this PC.

I would rather have a SSD version, and pref with a 6 cell battery too. I guess I'll just have to keep my eyes peeled :p
