Hey guys, thinking about an upgrade right now, I'm still running an older E8400 w/ 4GB RAM, 560Ti (1gb) and play some games, although not a huge amount.

I definately need to re-run a Windows install at some time soon, thinking of buying a (second) SSD for this and using the current SSD for another machine, whats really triggered the upgrade query is that the price of (now poxy as hell) PC6400 is ridiculously high, so was half thinking of going for a mid-low end i5 system with 8gb ram and a £300 budget..

Any thoughts?

Unless I'm missing something won't a new mobo be needed for this?

And I think if you do need the new mobo, and an SSD, i5 and new ram, you may struggle to stay under the budget of 300.

YOUR BASKET
1 x Intel Core i5-3570K 3.40GHz (Ivybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor (77W) - Retail £184.99
1 x Gigabyte Z77X-D3H Intel Z77 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard £112.99
1 x TeamGroup Elite 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C11 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit (TED38192M1600HC11DC) £29.99

That's about £30 over budget with your free shipping, and that's with no SSD :(
