Hello
I've been working for about 4 months now and I've been thinking about buying some whey protein and maybe, maybe creatine but I'm really not too sure about the effects and possible side-effects of taking whey or creatine.

I have done some research on both things but I'm still not too convinced about it.

I know that when buying when its the best to look for the one that is the most natural and there is 2 most popular versions - whey and whey isolate - and that the second one is made more from conservatives and therefore gets put into the body faster ( preferred to use as a post workout ) where as the first one will give you more energy through the day and should be taken in the morning or before workout ( but dont fully know )

And what my question is whenever these two and possibly other supplements are safe, effective, and will not stunt growth (as I might still grow a bit more, Im 16 years old ) - and what things should I look for when purchasing them ?

I've been thinking about buying some things off of the website called " my protein" which is supposedly meant to be pretty good when it comes to products and customer service .

So could someone please guide me as im fairly new to working out etc.
Also if I made any mistakes about the protein facts could someone let me know.

Ps. I dont have a proper clean as possible, body building diet, I eat a lot of decent food like chicken which I mostly have everyday along with fruit and vegatables. I stopped drinking and eating as much rubbish and only drink and eat it mostly at the weekends and fridays, but still not to eat too much.
Over the past few months since I started working out I have gotten slimmer and lost weight mostly because of my changed diet where I tried not to eat any sweets, fizzy drinks and limited my self to decent food and water. ;)

thanks :)

Hi, there! And welcome.

First off, check out the first post in the GymRats 2015 thread (http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18646458).

Second, what are you actually trying to do? Get huge or strong or both?

Third, it sounds like you eat rubbish nearly 50% (3/4 days) of the week - which isn't too bad! - but is somewhat missing the point. :)

Four, 95% of the stuff you have read about whey and creatine is probably utter rubbish: neither stunt growth and you have to really be trying hnbelievsbly hard to get into the negative side effects of either.

I am actually concerned because you are losing weight: what is your body type? Can you see veins in your arms or do you have any definition around your stomach? A healthy sixteen year old shouldn't be losing weight... So by chopping stuff OUT your diet, have you replaced the calories (in whole or part) with anything else (like greens, more protein, etc.)?

I am asking all this because I think you need a bit more understanding of what you are doing before you start 'supplementing' with anything, even if it is just food.

Sort your diet.

Your experience from using both of the aforementioned supplements will be similar to if you simply ate more red meat.

If you are in a calorie deficit, which you are, as you say you have slimmed and lost weight, then you are not growing.

See Steedie's Diet/Macros thread.

Hi
I didn't really lose weight like in a anorexic sort of way, what I meant by that is that I have lost quite a bit of fat ( I was never skinny, I was always kind of chubby but now I look a lot better than I did before - I lost a lot of my stomach fat that I had and just my whole body looks slimmer and how it was supposed to look like at my age, when I went to places such as when I was to get my knees checked the person and a couple of other places not just when I got my knees checked but at other occasions as well, practically all of them were trying to give me to understand that I need to lose some weight so my slight weight loss is a good thing :) (I was pretty chubby a year ago and my parents were really telling me that I have to lose weight)

Right now my built Is sort of in the middle, hard to describe without a picture, but I was always sort described as well built /slim chubby-well built if that makes sense... so that should sort of explain my physique. I received a few complements from my family and friends about me getting/being muscly and that I lost that weight since i started going to the gym (school gym which is very good ) and working out in general which is a pretty nice thing haha

I'm trying to get strong and just muscly not very huge in particular ( I'm only around 5.8" so I'm not too tall :( )

And moving onto the veins on my arms, I was never vainy but my vains have started to become more visible on my biceps because of the weights.

Going to my diet I pretty big and well so nutrition about me not eating enough isn't a problem.

P.s I've definitely gotten stronger and most likely gained some muscle weight as well, my arms got bigger, there not too big there around 14-14.5 inches when flexed, can tell that I developed some upper back muscle, pecs, and slight side abs

Hope this helps
thanks :)

That is fine.

As BennyC has suggested: eat well and appropriately. And keep lifting.

What routine are you using?

I dont really have a routine but I try to exercise almost all week.

What I use :
I mostly just use dumbells- with which I do curls and bench presses, chest press machine, diamond push ups, normal push-ups , wide grip push-ups, wide grip pull-ups,normal pull ups, I use the cable machine with the rope part for the triceps, rowing weight type machine and a pull up bar that you pull down when you are sitting down ( sorry for not knowing the names for the machines) and also some slight ABS workout on the floor and thats about it...
So its basicly just do a all body workout

Im thinking about doing some light squats and dead-lifts but nothing too heavy, as I have mentioned before about my knees

I had/have a slight problem with them and don't know if its fully healed so I try not too put much pressure on them .

You mean this is basically a beach workout? ;)

No shame in it, but you are missing out on all kinds of gains without working your legs. Check into the Mobility thread compiled by our resident handsome man and have s look around... :)
