Thinking about getting a cheap tablet

Hey all.
My friend has a tablet PC and I would like one.
He has the fairly priced recent Nexas one.

How good is this?

Is it the same as the more expensive ones but non-branded so cheaper, or is it just plain inferior?

I would love the 16GB Nexus 7 but they don't seem to be sold anywhere anymore. The 32GB ones are in stock though.
