Thinking about getting a wii

Well I worked it out to be paying £90 on top of my normal contract price over eighteen months, so a Wii for £90 didn't sound bad.

I got mine today and i must say its a lot of fun!!!!
Mario Kart is so fun with the wheel.

Not really all that playing on your own but multi-player is such a laugh :)

But why ONLY white????????
Im going to have to turn it into Darth Vader!

I also sold mine racked up quite a good deal tooo... Bought for 190, Sold a year later for 180..

As previously said they're only really good if you have mates over, playing on your own is plain and boring..

It depends if you're willing to buy into the whole control scheme etc.

The wii has some fantastic games, like Mario Kart, Metroid Prime etc. though playing on it seems a whole lot more effort than just vegging on your couch with a 360 controller.

If you're willing to pick up the controllers and wave around all day, go for it. It's a fantastic console all in, and true to Nintendo's history there's a lot of crud out there for it, but the actual Nintendo-published A-grade games are fantastic.

If you get one, get Metroid, Mario Kart, No More Heroes, Res Evil 4, House of the Dead: Overkill and The Godfather as a priority.

Really, I've been playing The Godfather recently and the motion controls are amazing - everything has been rearranged to make it feel like you're actually grabbing people by the scruff, slamming them into objects and smashing them with baseball bats etc.

Recently, my 360 has become 2nd fiddle to the Wii in terms of games, and I too allowed my Wii to gather dust for over a year (had it since launch). Only recently have I realised how wrong I was to slip into being a naysayer.

Sure, get it, so long as you're happy with the fact that there's about 15-20 very good games for it and hundreds of absolutely bloody awful ones.

Alternatively, get the DS, which has loads and loads of great games.

I have both, and have a great time with both, but in terms of library quality both the 360 and the DS are vastly ahead of the Wii.

I'm torn with the Wii at the moment. It's the only console that gets played when friends come round, but as everyone has jobs and famlies these days that's quite a rare occurrence. When I was at school and had mates round to play games most evenings, or at Uni in halls, the Wii would have been amazing. As it stands, it's excellent when I have the excuse to bring it out - or when the odd decent single player game comes out - but otherwise it sits around doing not much.

My most fun and memorable gaming sessions of this gen have been on the Wii, though. Mario Galaxy and Lost Winds were both magical and Wii Sports and Boom Blox with friends is awesome. You can't beat 4 player Brawl.

I also suspect that quite a lot of people are missing out on the good games the Wii does offer. Why isn't everyone playing the excellent HOTD: Overkill, for example?

Oh, Mad World looks good and Kororinpa 2 will allow us to make our levels :)

Had a Wii for about 5 days now, enjoy Wii Fit, Wii Sports and Tiger Woods 09, but only when playing with friends/family. Single player for any of them is good for about 30-60 mins and then it just becomes boring.

I find the Wii a more social thing.
