thinking about getting an I-Pace, should I?

Two different people and also owner's forum posts.
How do you have the energy to keep this going?

I’ve had 3 IPACE. All ace. Proper cars and the pivi system with wireless CarPlay, Alexa and decent navigation… don’t really see the need for extra layers of so call tech.

I just wish the brakes weee good enough to stop Nashers mouth. But then I realise I’m doing the walking whilst he’s still talking. Please don’t degrade this thread to your usual.

Absolute bargain now

Thanks Jonny. I'd prefer a main dealer car, but if I buy from elsewhere, is it possible in any way to buy a Jaguar warranty on say a 4-5 year old car?

One of my mates has one. He really likes it. He had an issue with the windscreen leaking or something but that was fixed under warranty.

I went ahead with the test drive, the I-Pace is a fab car. The build quality is super high and the driving experience is very engaging.
I would say it's the most high end EV, in that market section, Ive tried.
I would also say it's a better car than my 2014 BMW 330D.
The next step is to locate one with the spec that I like

I’ve got a 70 plate Touch Duo model (last of the older ones before Pivi Pro)

Had it 18 months and 15K miles. Not had any concerns with any of the known issues (both 12V batteries failing, leaking windscreen, traction cells failing and only charging to 72%, heater failing). Mine was purchased from a 3rd party dealer, had to have an inspection done at a JLR dealer to put a warranty on after the 3 years manufacturer warranty had expired. From memory it was £200 - £300.

As said before running costs are steep for a EV. Mainly warranty and servicing (6 years service I’ve been quoted £700 for). That aside, fantastic car, will be sad to see mine go in 6 months.

summary of the battery issue ?

Summary: Fire hazard

A workaround limits charge to only 75%. No real fix other than replacing the batteries, which might get replaced for free if there is a fault. But you have to suffer the awful JLR service (who might make things worse when they take it to bits, according to some of the comments).

I have a 70 plate Touch Duo. Only problem I've had in 2 years ownership was the recharge flap wouldn't open. JLR fixed it no problem and lent me a defender while they were working on the car.

Intend to keep mine long term as there isn't really anything I want to spend the money on to replace it.
