as the title says. i have always wanted to drive fast and go round corners sideways, and now im going to do something about it! did one of those day things and loved it

there is a place relatively close to where i live called superdrive. gonna try and get a National B Competition Licence, then get my own car at some point in the future

was just wondering if anyone here does rally driving, and what their experiences have been in competitions etc. any tips, advice?

any really good links to rally information would be great :)

no rallying is a waste of money comments plz :p

Haha, that's what my friend says Penski! (Used to rally a fantastic Astra, then a Sierra Cosworth) :)

I think he said 20 pound notes though! :o :D

Same as the old adage about Grand Prix racing. How d'you make a small fortune out of it? Start with a large one....

Can't remember who said it originally...

But rallying is sodding expensive. That's what it means.

Yeah true....that should have clicked actually :o

Cant be too much if you rally something small and cheap. 205's etc, stuff like that.

For comparison costs, my dad rallies a 205GTi...

...And likes Audi Estates with the letters S and R on their bums for a daily drive.

...But that's not to say that you can't rally 'on the cheap'...

The old adage of "Speed, Reliability, Affordability. Pick any two." is correct.

as i said, im just gonna try and get my liscence atm. will worry bout my own car and stuff when im finished uni :)

When your 30 then and payed off your debt :p.

I was just trying to point out that its expensive, im sure you know that already.

That guys spent ~30k and only done two rallys in his car.

Jon :)

Maybe get the G25 Racing WHeel for the PC along with RIchard burns rally.

That game will get you in to grips with rally driving, i think.

For sprints, hillclimbs and road rallies you only need a Non-Race National B. So no medical and no course, just send a cheque and get the licence.

If you're quick and/or find you really enjoy it, then move up to stages and do your BARS course and get a normal National B licence. Stages are a LOT more expensive than all the above mentioned disciplines though.
