Currently on virgin media and not happy with it etc, paying way to much for too little. Thinking of switching to BT and getting option 3. Anyone on them at the moment or has been with BT, if so what's support like? is uptime good? If i ring them will they not understand what PCI is? and anything else you'd like to share.

Thanks!

Joe.

The support at BT can be naff at times, just depends on the time of day you ring I've noticed. Although they do occasionally ring up to see what we think of the service and whether they can interest us in any deals.

I've been with them since...well they are my first and only ISP I've used, and had them way back when I was on 56k which I think is about 8 years.

if so what's support like?

ever banged your head against a brick wall? :D

they're offshore, can barely speak a word of english and only read from a script.....

delete cookies
reboot router
re-install windows

is about as much sense as you'll get out of them.

as for the service.... it's a joke. now you might be lucky and end up with an ok connection and no need to call support..... but there's just as much chance the service will be terrible and there's sweet fa you can do about it because you're tied into a 12/18 month contract.

one word. avoid. :)

any recommendations as to who i should go with?

Hi, I'm with BT and can't complain really. The support from Bangalore is terrible. But if you phone the BT Vision help number you get a British person who is able to sort problems, I mean problems with your email accounts etc.

This is my experience anyway.

I am currently leaving BT please stay well away there service is terrible. No after sales service and support is great as people have said in India. (Sorry if this offends!)
Bt home hub is really good as a door stop and that is about it. 8mb broadband was lucky to get 5 on a really good day. There F.U.P is rubbish as well when i joined they said it was 150gig a month found out last week i was on a capped line because i had gone over the monthly useage. When i enquired how i had managed to use 150gig in a month there reply "Our F.U.P is 50gig a month!!!!!" Oh right thanks BT and bye BT where's my MAC code??????

Sorry for the rant.:D

I go live with Be* on tuesday, router arrived today speedtouch 565 or something like that.
I "was" on option 3 with BT, unlimited downloads, hehehe, come 5pm my STABLE 7mb drops to 2mb, come 6.30pm my now 2mb line drops to 512k, come 1am my 512k line mysteriously goes back to 7mb, no, they don't traffic shape at all...lol BYE BT!

Search this section about BT and you will find that recently they have been terrible.

I had been with BT for a long time until about 10 months ago. Traffic shaping became dreadful, not only did I see my speed reduce from 6.5 to 0.2 at times but BT insisted the fault was my end…Moved to another provider and the same line and network receives 15.2.

In a nutshell, awful speed with very poor offshore support coupled that with their total denial of traffic shaping or speed capping should be enough to put anyone off.

Here's another warning; STAY AWAY FROM BT..

Currently with Enta and loving it.. They even have UK customer service unlike BT who has dragged all sorts of people off the road in India to read from scripts. Their CS is useless at best. Dont say we didnt warn you. :)
