Ok - I'm starting to think about a new car.

Couple of reasons why

1 - I don't do mega mileage and as such the little cdti meriva I have isn't getting used right so it's not worht keeping
2 - I want more space for a myself, and for road trips with friends

I know the road trips mean longer distance - however they are few and infrequeant.

Don't ask why but I have a hankering for a Zafari GSI. Daft I know, but there cheapish, I like the styling and the size - and the 200+BHP from them. And being a plus sized chap, the huge sport seats they have (or at least felt when I last sat in one) feel comfy.

So Motors - using the Zaf GSI as a guide, what would you think of for me to add to the list of 1 and start digging about?

Yeah sorry my mistake there.

Ok so there are some issues then - any ideas on anything else like it and in the same sort of price range as these?

Looking around Zaf GSi are about 3-4k

S-max 2.5t's are about 4-5k

Budget is up to that at most - less the better.

It's more the acutal space behind the wheel that I need, and I prefer the higher up seating feel

This is the thing

As I said above - I dont' drive huge mileage so the diesal isn't the right choice.

I like the higher seating postion.

Also I don't need a mega economical car and insurance isn't a big thing

I do about 4k at most a year mileage wise - even thats a push

It's normally just me, however I do sometimes take 3-4 friends out and none of us are small people.

I'm going to say no Jamesyboyjim

And - Well, I'll say look at my thread in the training logs.

According to some doctors I should be dead already in a square coffin made of steel

Gearbox doesn't bother me either will be fine.

There's a couple ner me I'll have a look at

And a few ML's (even a 55 version?)

Chjeers Cheif and Riolet.

Interms of expense for running the car - parts etc, I've been spoilt abuit by the current one as it's been so cheap and easy to run.

I'd just like something bigger, bit more road presence and as I don't do long commutes etc currently something that fits my needs.

Daftly a ML 430 v8 or 500 v8 seem's to do so and there a semi cheap but reasonabley equipped truck.

Test drove the CX7 and the ML yesterday

CX7 I was shocked at how small it was behind the wheel :(

The ML though was fantastic - very Road land yacht ish. Felt very safe, the 430 which I drove wafted along very well and never felt like it was stressed (Though for a V8 it did seem a little muted engine tone wise......)

I think SUV is the way forward though - it felt just more 'me' if that makes sense?

Cheers Arm

I'll have a look at those tonight at home and see what is nearby to take out for a drive.

The ML when I have looked into it - it seem's the cdi has issues noted but the petrol ones I can't seem to find much, though they were the lesser in sales figures.

Suspension for the ML430 is £500 all in for new parts but not OEM, which I think at this age and price isn't a massive consideration? Some part's like all cars are expensive - though the ML I looked at was pre 2001 so was just £290 road fund licene - not that this bothers me though

I found the same as above when I was hunting at parts cost aswell.

Sat in a Lexus last night, same issue for me as the CX7, I didn't feel like I had enough space - lovely car, and lots of toys but to small

Its ok - it's not to off track :)

So this weekend I have a 3.2 and a 4.2 Tourag to test.

Also to apease my dad a 4.6 Westminster edition HSE Range Rover

Also going to see the XC90 - found a nice T6 Black with black cow hide and SE Exec spec?

Update

Drove both Toureg's back to back.

The 3.2 felt lacking for the car's size but they both drove fine. Space ebhind the wheel was enough for me and I didn't feel to let down by fit and finish

They stay on the list

Range Rover is off the list - Big, felt very old, but felt cramped behind the wheel

The XC90 - wow, this impressed me 2 turbos and the engine, and lots of grunt - even gave decent mpg on the test drive. It's on the list

Yeah it was

The newer shape isn't in budget - or at least I've not seen one that hasn't been to the moon and back or has parts missing - or has holes in the dash and roof
