Thinking about upgrading, advice please!

As a note my pc is used for gaming (1080p) nothing more. My 5870 feels like it's struggling to keep up and I deffo wanna try out bf4.

Current specs:

i7 950 @ 3.8 ghz
Gigabyte Ga-58a-ud3r
6 GB corsair 1600
Vapor-x 1gb 5870
SSD / storage Hdd

If I were to upgrade the whole unit I'd have £1200 to spend and would need tower and a OS, no monitors/etc. nothing could be salvaged from old PC would hand it down (since I'm so nice!!).

Now the main question is do you think it's worth upgrading as a whole unit to a newer i7, or wait for the next gen? Or just upgrade graphics cards, (was looking at the new toxic 280) and in a year or so when the next gen CPUs come out I can just get a 2nd 280 and xfire.

My advice is to do the GFX upgrade and wait to upgrade the rest of the system until the next gen come out.

Do you have a decent PSU?

650 corsair something can't exactly remember what specifically it is. Should be enough! Right?

Ok, well thanks for the quick reply. Do you think the 280 is the best option? If I were to just upgrade the gfx card I guess I could spend up to say £400-450 at max.

Wait for the R9 290 or 290X which should arrive at the end of the month.
