Thinking Mini + SSD

Ok, I have a MBP with an SSD at the moment for normal stuff but I was thinking of a Mini for multiple use:

a) Plex media centre with direct attached drive for storage.

b) NAS box - easy to add storage. I already have a load of drives that I can add in USB caddies.

c) My own OSX based MIDI drum application where it will be sat next to my drum kit with a monitor, FW MIDI interface and drive my existing monitor placed so I can drum from the display.
This means it's get a lot of vibration hence my thought about putting an SSD onboard instead and running all the media etc via an external unit.
It may also be downgraded to run Leopard so I can test with 10.5 and 10.6 on my MBP then upgraded next year using the SL that came with it. I want to sell this app, although at a lowish price, so I need the ability to support 10.5 for a while.

The switch between Plex/NAS and (c) would be just shutdown, unplug & move then restart. I'll have separate user accounts or split the local drive into a 10.5 and 10.6 disc and select on startup.

So I assume it's straight forward to replace the internal mini drive? Has anyone tried an SSD in a Mini?

I have a Corsair 128Gb SSD in my mini. Pain in the ass to fit, as is any upgrade to the mini, but the results are good. It's a lot faster than it was and probably rivals my SSD'ed 2.4Ghz MBP now.

As most of my data is on my network, I think I'm going to look in to SSDing my MBP when it arrives. Is it worth the obscenely high price tag of SSD?

It depends on the MBP you have.

I have a Nov'07 MBP model 3,1. It's only got SATA1 but I put an OCZ Vertex 120GB in it because it's my main machine (performance) and it gets moved quite a bit (solid state).
I was using it for work to at the start of the year and speed is noticeable with Parallels and Windows too.

For me it was worth it because the drive it replaced was a 5400rpm drive in a machine I use continuously (I'm typing on it now).

The only reason I'm considering and SSD in a mini is because of the vibrations from the drumkit. It may survive with the standard drive if it's placed on a chair nearby on some vibration absorber. Ploughing through double bass drum peddles puts out quite a bit of floor vibration and I don't want the MBP close because of accidental flying sticks (I've hit it once and thankfully didn't hit the screen!).

It'll probably be the base 13" 2.26GHz MBP I go for.

Yeah, the MBP, hopefully coupled with a 24" Cinema will be my main machine, I'm a web developer, so it'd be used all day every day (and probably on the couch in the evenings), with my PC remaining "in service" for gaming.

The lack of space does put me off a little, my current PC is using 126GB, and that was a new install when Windows 7 was released, although, there are a few games on here (CS:S and MW2).

That said, the MBP only has 160GB standard.
