Thinking of a 360 buy

I'm thinking of buying one of these kits, preferably the full kit with HDD etc..

Best price I've found is HMV for 265 notes (using a promotional e-voucher)

Can any of you experts find one cheaper, or is HMV a good buy?

Also I'm a bit put off by the cost of games, to say the least, but renting a game at £8.99 a month seems like a good idea. Do many of you folk do this and does it have any drawbacks?

On a gaming point of view I very much like games like FEAR, HL2 and the odd driving game too. Are the current crop of 360 games upto standard yet? Or do I need to wait a while longer till the platform matures?

Any feedback would be great :)

Mick

Oh BTW: In the hdd package is there a cable to connect straight to my CRT monitor? Or is that an extra purchase..

Bloomin ell 500 quid!!!

I'm not sure what makes me elegible for MM, is it a hundred posts or something?

My days of wanting to own shiney new games are over, but surely buying a 360 game could be dubious due to how easy they are to scratch/damage, if the 360 is moved or laid down while loaded..

Mick

BTW: I'm not an ebay shopper neither...I dont trust the place.

I think MM is far more reliable than ebay mate. Once you have access to the MM you can check people's trust here, ask questions, request pics of the disk to see its condition etc. If someone was trying to sell a severely damaged disk it would be very easy to spot on a photo.

*touchwood* i've never had a problem with any sellers/buyers on here.

Edit. 150 posts i think, have a butchers through the FAQ linked at the top of the forum.

Well MM woud be a nice place to shop by the sounds of things but I'm way off the required 250 posts. ( just checked faq )

I'm more of a reader than a poster, and at my yearly post rate it could be a while before I'm posting in MM, Oh well.

Anyway...Anyone have any other comments regarding my original post then feel free. :)

Thanks
Mick

Unless you can find someplace that sells it at RRP and you can get a fairly big discount, then I think £265 is about the best you'll get. I was lucky enough to get one of the Asda bundles a couple of weeks before Xmas and that was £360 for the Premium bundle and 2 games.

I have heard that some people buy a game second hand and then go and buy it new from a place with a no quibble returns policy.
Then return the second hand copy to the high street store, effectively getting the brand new copy at second hand prices.
Deplorable behaviour.

Get yourself into a heated debate and you'd rack up 250 posts in a day, or is that just me?

Alternatively join in the plethora of "I hate my Dad", "my GF is messed up", "just been dumped" etc threads in General Discussion and offer sincere sympathies to all and sundry.
Failing that post about mustard and dubious facial hair or start a "I want a tattoo on my backside, anyone know any Japanese?" thread.

Seriously it is not posting that is an issue it is finding time to post enough.

Don't forget to end every post with "free the scone".

If you join Quidco you can get another 6% off. Quidco requires a £5 initial annual fee so you will only save an extra £10.

Also it will take 2 months to get the £10 back.

Better than nothing though :)

:D

There are plenty of bargains to be had games wise. Especially as you are starting a few months behind. You can buy up older games for 25-30 easily.

You get a component cable (with a SCART adapter) in the Premium package. For VGA connectivity you'll have to buy an official or 3rd party VGA cable.
