hey guys im getting an itch and toying with the idea of upgrading my sapphire pulse 5700 8 gig card, i was wary spending about 380 quid on a graphics card several years ago but i guess times have changed and i bought this current one at the right time :)

i recently got a 32 inch 2k monitor (gigabyte m32q) and im toying with the idea of a new gpu, basically how much would i need to spend to get a worth while upgrade?

im open to nvidia or amd and i would want more than 8 gig on it.

any ideas?

specs are :

msi b450 tomahawk max
ryzen 5700x
team group 16 gig 3200mhz
radeon 5700 sapphire pulse 8 gig
newish corsair rm 750x psu

edit: im not interested in raytracing

Although prices are falling we are still in a very poor state in regards to "value for money" upgrades for those of us sitting on a decent working card.

Today £350 will net you a 6700XT which is about a 30% uplift with an extra 4GB of VRAM it's not exactly an exciting upgrade but at least there is improvement for your money. You will pay directly for any performance uplift beyond that (for example a 6900 class card will be double the performance but costs twice the price).

I'm sitting on a 5700XT which was bought for £350 before the pricing insanity kicked in. Realistically I'd want a 50%+ uplift in performance and double the VRAM to be a worthwhile upgrade. The 6800XT fits the bill but it's 2.5 years old and still £500+.

This is a fairly dangerous forum for GPU recommendations, it's populated by enthusiasts who upgrade/sidegrade at every opportunity and are comfortable spending a lot of money on GPUs.

It's up to you how much you're willing to spend to bag a decent performance uplift but your OP suggests you're not entirely comfortable throwing silly money around.
