Thinking of Adding Memory? Read Here First!

I'm not sure I really understand your question. And, there is no CAS9 memory recommended for the Striker Extreme:

Sorry what i was ment to post was: Question?
If CAS 2 or 3 is better for overclocking why is there only CAS 9 NV in the recommended section of the Asus 2 striker Extreme?

The Cosair TW3X2G1600C9DHXNV is recomended by Cosair for the Asus Striker 2 extreme why not a CAS 2 or 3?

We have published a new application note that covers a few of the basic memory upgrade questions that are asked daily.

CORSAIR AN806: Memory Uprade Resource Guide

Uhmmm... sorry to say that but I would have to disagree with the most statements there, to be honest all of them apply to 'stock voltage and settings'.

I've upgrade from 2x1gb sticks to 4x1gb sticks recently, not a single mhz drop on overclock, not a single problem with performance. It is still happily doing everything up to 1070mhz with tight timings ( and it's pc6400 ).

Moreover, I've got a huge performance increase there ;).

Oh well, anyways, good article but the most frequent questions are 'which memory to choose' and this can't be just answered like that since they heavily depend on the full spec and purpose of the system.

It's good to hear that your upgrade has gone well. But, the fact remains, a MOBO will not OC to the same speed with 4 modules as it will with 2.

I have no idea what MOBO you have as you did not list any spex with your statements. But based on this I'd guess Intel and P35 or X38 or possibly X48. If you are capped at 1070 using DDR800, you are most likely capped by your memory or CPU.

Other than your individual upgrade experience, what other parts of the note did you not agree with?
