Thinking of buying a PSP - which version to get?

Hi

I'm currently thinking of getting a PSP. I've heard that the Jap spec ones have a better screen than the UK ones though and that they will still play UK games - is that the case?

If so, would it be better to get the Jap one? What about the ones from the US or Hong Kong?

Hi,

PSPs are region free so you can play games from the UK on foreign PSPs no problem. Not sure about the screen, aren't they all the same :confused:

The problem with foreign consoles, is the difference in voltages 110v/220v, but PSPs come with a charger which can adapt to different voltages, but it would probably require to a) plug adapter or b) put a UK plug on it or c) buy a UK lead

Also if you buy it from Hong Kong/USA/Japan there is also the problem with warranties etc

there was a lot of talk on here about the jap psp's having better screens. i had both a jap and usa psp at the same time and there was no noticable difference in the screens.

the jap psp's have the X, 0 buttons reversed. they are still in the same position, but you use 0 button to select and the X button to go back or cancel. takes a while to get used to. buttons will be normal while playing a usa or uk game though.

the psp is region free for games, but it's region locked for umd movies, so jap ones will play uk movies but not usa movies (jap & uk = region 2 / usa = region 1)

no other difference apart from that, so i would just go for whichever i could get the cheapest.

I'm having that problem with my Jap PS3, I find I get used to it but then if I play my PSP for a while and go back to the PS3 I get muddled again!!!

Thanks for the replies - interesting point about the Jap PSPs having the X and O buttons reversed! Now that I know that I might look for a UK one

I'm not planning to play movies on it and as the games are region free I'll probably just go for the cheapest!
