Thinking of buying XP Pro - too many versions to choose from!

Right, I froogled Windows XP professional, and I was shown a massive price range for a product that looked pretty similar all the way throughout.. I found a £25 version, and then I found a £1000 version. Needless to say I'm very very confused. The one being offered by OC will be reliable no doubt, but I don't want to be paying too much extra for a product I could've got exactly the same, but cheaper. Advice please?

Thanks in advance!

Best be removing the competitor links.

The cheap one is media only, no licence key is supplied, the other is an OEM version which is the same as what OcUK sell.

Ok cheers for the quick response! So when browsing for these things, what are the key phrases I should be looking out for to ensure that it's the one I want, and not something useless to me?

Ensure that vista is not mentioned ;)

Anyway i expect its xp retail you are looking for, or possibly an upgrade version if you have a previous ms product cd.

Best bet would just be to buy an OEM copy, new on OcUK about £90, at auction about £50-60, just so long as it has an un-used license key. :)

Watch out for the number of licences you are buying. Some packs are MORE than 1 licence hence more money.

If XP is no longer for sale after June this year you might like to consider a Retail pack for (very) long term use as its the only one which you can move from machine to machine, (or replace Mobo) on.

Was it true that if Windows XP failed the Windows Genuine Advantage scan and you purchased a version off Microsoft, you got a full retail version?
