I have a Danger Den TDX block for my conroe, but am having contact problems.
So the choice os either change the block, or lap it.

Any recommendations? Whats best route to get good contact and temps.

Its either the IHS is dished outwards, or the base of the block is dished outwards (convex) as it only contacts about 3mm DIA patch bang in the middle of the CPU!!
I have added more AS5 to combat this problem, but know its a short term cheat and something either needs lapping or changing!!

Stick em both on a flat surface and see which is the issue.

As welshtom said though, just lap the pair (unless you're worried about warranty...)

Would only be worried about warrenty on the CPU to be honest.

Is it worth lapping the Danger Den block? Or is this block pants and should I replace it a better block whilst it is apart?

Nothing intrinsicaly wrong with the TDX. See which one isn't flat before you go replacing one. What if you replace the one that was flat? You'll still have the same problem.

Right

I wont be changing the CPU thats for sure!
And if the TDX is a good block, then I will just lap one or both.

What I meant was if the TDX block is recognised as a pants block, then I may as well replace it and ebay it to some other sucker!!! :D

No point in keeping a block if there are others that are substantially better.

What Mike is saying is, if the chip is the one with the uneven surface, the best cpu block in the world wont cool it.

you have to make sure both are flat before you worry about whether the tdx is good enough.
