Thinking of changing phone: Is delayed notifications still a issue?

I have always had Samsung phones, every phone I have had seems to have problems with notifications not coming through straight away, my current phone Samsung a52s is a good phone for me but I have to use ADB commands to disable sleep and deep sleep. Is it a Android thing or a Samsung issue ?

Never had issues with notifications on Android, had Samsung in the past. If anything I have to weed out the apps which are too needy every year or so

Think it depends on the OS.

I've had Xiaomi and OnePlus phones which both have very aggressive battery management. The Poco I'm using at the moment with Hyper OS does have very quick and deep app suspension which can be a right pain. Has certainly slowed stopped notifications coming through. Although, turning off battery management for the app and locking it into memory seems, for the most part, to sort it.

Every time there is a software update I think maybe they have fixed it but unfortunately not, it's the aggressive Doze. Using the ADB command is ok but you have to do it every time you restart the phone, and it also has a impact on the battery charge.

Keep an eye on this on what brands have aggressive management: https://dontkillmyapp.com

It's one major reason why I went Pixel.

Interesting.
I had a Nokia about 5 years ago when they made a couple of over spec'd phones that people didn't really take seriously because they felt Nokia were dead and not relevant. It ran close to Vanilla Android as far as I recall, and the experience was excellent.
I eventually got my current phone the Xiaomi POCO F2, and whilst it has been excellent, wireless Android Auto has never worked for me, and I think it's to do with MIUI and possibly aggressive management stuff.
I also may go Pixel with my next phone just to know everything will work optimally. This is a shame really as we've now gone from Android being what it once was to a dependence on a few providers who do it properly. I cba with rooting and flashing ROMs anymore. Got tired of that a decade ago.

Wireless Android Auto didn't work for me on the F2 either, it's fine on the F3. FWIW the latest OS on it, HyperOS seems pretty good

The other thing that annoys me is the silence notifications while driving, it never activates when I'm driving, I have to manually toggle it, I don't know if it's the phone or Google.
