Because every time I go into a store the games are dirt cheap... like 98p dirt cheap.

I still feel a bit weary about getting one as I think my enthusiasm for gaming is pretty much gone... but I still want enjoy games.

Few questions..

1. Does the new USB HDD update mean I don't have to buy the bigger HDD? I could just buy the arcade as have a bunch of 16gb memory cards I could use... but then again, I wouldn't get a black 360..

2. Are players on Live still cussing up a storm in every game? One of the reasons I sold my 360 was due to immature players in games like Halo 3 and Gears.

3. Noise level? Are they still loud when th...edit nvm, just remembered you can install to HDD. Question answered. :p

4. Failure rate? I read somewhere that the failure is down to 3% after a new motherboard was put into the system. Is this true?

5. Whats the cheapest price for an elite these days?

Thanks.

1-5 360 is getting better and better in terms of hardware and software, XBL is still the same, play BC2 online and surprisingly not come across any cussing teens.

2. I have my chat options set to friends only so I cant answer that but they'll always be abuse.

4. yeah the new jaspers are very cool. Mine gets lukewarm at best when running and most of the time its just cool air out the back. Dont know anyone with a jasper that's had a problem although time will tell and you get 3 years anyway.

5. Probably best to get it from a high street. I paid £200 for mine with 2-3 games but I instantly traded them against its cost so only ended up paying something like £140-150

1. Yes

2. I have no idea, I have mine set so I can only communicate with people on my friends list.

3. Install to HDD :) Fans can be hit and miss, my super elite has rather noisy fans compared to the quiet ones in my old permium.

4. Jasper significantly reduced the failure rate, in fact it's pretty much unheard of for a Jasper to RROD but it could still happen.

5. No idea

I took my 2nd 360 back last Saturday & because they didn't have any refurbs I got a Brand Spanking new Jasper. :D
It's an Arcade which has a Bigger flash memory so you can store the console data seperately.
It's Whisper quiet once the game is installed to HD & is only 150 watts an all.
As for the Flaming I Like it. :D For me it Adds to my gaming to get involved in a bit of Banter with opponents.
There is Nowt like Teabagging some Mouthy teenager repeatedly after he has called me out or summit. :p

I have an older lite on drive and it's fine. Now when i had an old hitachi that's when it used to make a right ole racket!

Huh. Maybe I'm unlucky. It's a new Jasper with whichever dvd they're currently using, and it makes a right racket.

Since the game is installed to the HDD , it shouldn't matter what DVD drive you have, once it's 'checked' the DVD for legitimacy, it then spins down, the only noise left is the cooling fan(s)..

My Elite is very quiet in this scenario, but I guess some people's won't be..

I mean for watching DVDs, not for playing games that have been installed.

I'll agree with the above, my DVD drive isn't too noisy whilst playing from the disc, but I still install everything anyway, if only help with wear and tear, plus some games like fable 2 and mass effect 2 are substantially quicker to load. I doubt it's worth waiting for the USB memory update, some high street deals at the minute on the elite are quite good and failure rates now are very low indeed.

HDMI socket is there, but no cable is included. if you want to pass audio on to a SPDIF reciever you need to buy the official MS HDMI dongle and cable for around £15.

I got an elite with Fable2, Forza3, Halo ODST and GoW2 for £190 3 weeks ago. Seems like you got a good deal, if you wanted those games!

Don't want those games but extra controller is a plus. Is that deal still going? I still have time to cancel my order.
