Thinking of getting a AMD 6000+

Thats a different way to look at it, in that its both their current tech, but how can a CPU architecture of 3+yrs old be fairly put up against a new one (1yr old), I will wait on new tech from both camps.

They are both here soon so its dumb not to wait, I would not buy either of current ones at this stage in the game.

Also cost has nothing to do with it, the cost can go up or down, the 6600 v X2 6000 is fair because of perfomance same as a P4 3.2 v a XP3200 was fair, hense thats why review sites used them models.

I forgot about this thread, I'm not going to get an Intel chip as said before because I can't afford a new motherboard to go with it.

I'm still wondering about whether to get the 6000+ though, I've noticed that it's now £4 cheaper on OcUK than before as well...

You know new AMD X2 6400's are due but prob your 6000 will clock the extra 200mhz with stock volts anyhow, most get at least 3350mhz.

They are? Any idea of pricing?

NM I just bought and paid for one £103 with insured post woo...

u can get 3.3 out of the 6000+ o might just have to get one, go tmy 5200+ (2.6) to 3.0, with a good water set....

Got bored now and want a challenge again, she what she clocks up to ?!? or would the FX chip be a beter way to go with the mulipty unlocked ?!

Can't wait for the quads to come out... i say order it, if u can oc ** rig to the same kinda speed and u don't mind about the heat etc the sell it to me :D

didn't even notice if anyone asked but, what do you use your comp for? it just gaming then theres very little difference really from the lowest rated 2-2.2Ghz dual cores of any brand, to a 3.5Ghz overclocked dual core of anything.

so there is a couple games and gfx cards that mean a nice 2.6-2.8Ghz can show a decent improvement.

if other stuff then a newer faster x2 that clocks higher will be nice for you.

deffo should have first tried to overclock current chip though, if not least so you could give your opinion of the difference between most likely at least 2.6Ghz, maybe up to 3Ghz with that chip, compared to stock and whatever you can hit on the 6000+.

for the next chips, barca and penryn, i think a heck of a lot of people will be switching back and you'll have a nice am2 board to stick one right into ;)

i do indeed have a core 2 duo, and yes, just got a nice Q6600, but not just for gaming, i do a bunch of vid rendering and it will help no end. but i'm about 95% sure i'll be going over to a barca either on launch, of its sound more like a new stepping in nov/dec that will be quite a bit faster with less current leakage.

what will be funny is, assuming it is very fast, it will spank the kentsfield in a few benchmarks, everyone on here will suddenly only recommend barcelona setups and say how way faster they are. but jsut like now, there will be next to no difference in gaming which is what 99% of the forum the most intensive things their cpu's do.
