Hi all,

Im thinking of getting a decent alarm fitted to my focus. I found this Toad one on ebay CLICK

With the extras:
TOTAL CLOSURE
DUAL SHOCK SENSOR
TILT SENSOR

What you all think?

The Toad is brilliant if installed properly.

3 point immobilisation, battery back-up on the siren... the list goes on.

They used to be closer to £300 installed, so £200 is a good price.

The Ai606 is a decent alarm, although the siren is pretty quiet.
But the one bit of advice I'd give is that no alarm, regardless of the price, is worth a bean unless installed by a real professional.

I'd never let an ebay fitter near my car for something like an alarm.

Stick to places where you can visit should there be a problem, and that have been trading a decent length of time with a decent reputation.

just do not get one like the one thats on the prelufe im driving, my mum loves it but it drives me mad!!

Turn it on and it says "SYSTEM ARMED"

Off: "SYSTEM DISARMED"

And if anyone gets too close it says different things telling them the car is alarmed and to move away from it.

When you go to work at 5:30am you dont want to wake the whole street up, nor is it funny when people keep walking past and setting it talking, which makes them try it again and sets the alarm off

One off the best bits of security kit im yet to buy, a removable steering wheel! Even if they get in they cant steal it!

Toad systems are very good, but as its said above, its needs fitting by a pro.

Would you not even trust something like this seller? Regestered with TOAD and seems to have sold loads of them all with + feedback and it does say a lifetime warrenty

Fitted an AI606 myself inc total closure and I can say it's a very good alarm. The siren is a little quiet compared to some but the unit rarely suffers from false alarms and is very simple to use.

On the reviews I read, it said that the siren was very loud.

That's quite a downer to hear that it's actually pretty quiet :(

Can you get remote start modules for the AI606? A friend has a Clifford on his car, and the remote start/shut off is absolutely awesome.

No, it isn't very loud. I fitted a Clifford to a ZS and that was loud. I fitted the remote start too which is integral to the G5. You can get third party RS gear for the Toad however I couldn't comment on their reliability.

No, I'd never buy it from anyone on ebay at all. The guy in that auction has a reasonable reputation, but I know of a couple of people who have had problems reaching the guy regarding installations. They may well have had the problems resolved after that, but I wasn't sold on them.
Another one to avoid is caralarmuk.com. I learnt the hard way that the quality of fitting was abysmal.

I should add that the Clifford RS system cuts off the starter motor when the RPM reaches a set threshold. A lot of the third party variants that I have seen cut off the starter after a determined amount of seconds which can be a bad thing, for example some vehicles will take longer to start than others depending on model and weather conditions resulting in stalls or holding the starter on when the engine has already started.

Emailed they guy for a full quote with the extras and i got this reply:

Hi Peter
The total cost fitted at your address would be £335 fitted at your address.
Just a note that we are taking bookings for early to mid march at the moment , just to give you an idea when you need to book if the price is right ,
Many thanks

So what you think?

I've all ways liked Toad Alarms - They are v.good and reliable.

I've even had an Ai606 myself and it was a good alarm.

...and that's not a bad price really...

i have the clifford avante garde, its awesome, dont cut corners on security otherwise you could end up having a nasty journey on a bus or train! :)
