Im mulling over buying a M1330 from OCUK - Im doing a lot of travelling and would be great to have a light laptop to take with me, anyone give me general impressions?

wondering if the hdd and ram are easy to upgrade - would prefer a 200GB 7200rpm drive and 4GB of ram, but I know from work some laptops you have to completely take apart to upgrade the ram (one slot is under the keyboard on some makes/models)

Can anyone advise?

I haven't opened my M1530 yet but it seems you just have to remove a RAM cover on the base to access your RAM. I assume this is exactly the same for the M1330.

Thanks for the link I hadnt seen it, yeah some models have access to only one of the two ram slots underneath which is what concerns me :)

I have a 1330 and it's great! Why do you need 4gb of ram?

I have just found Vista sluggish with only 2GB (this was on a brand new pc I configured and built myself and installed Vista Ultimate fresh)

I have also been using XP with 4GB on this machine, and while I know the OS doesnt use all of it the benefit of 3GB + available plus dual channel makes it worth it imo

you can't get a better 13.3" laptop than M1330 tbh. I have one and it's brilliant. Although I can think of a couple of bad things with mine. The music stuttered every few minutes or so until I turned all sound enhancements off in Vista and the system freezes everytime you eject a disk. Also sometimes when running on battery it emits a high pitch sound but it doesn't seem to do that anymore.

And yes replacing RAM is just a matter of removing the cover at the bottom. There's a cover for the CPU and heatsink as well so it's easily upgradable. Removing harddrive only requires you to remove 2 screws then the HDD bay simply slides out from the left side.
