thinking of getting a H60

so has anyone got any experience with this cooler, i've exhausted the search engine and theres a lot of different opinions.... non i can trust.

i'll be using it with my I5 750 @ 4.2 GHz.

i currently own a silver arrow & i dislike it very much due to multiple issues:
A) it's very near the GPU; 2mm apart(seriously)
B) it clogs up any apparent air flow in my system.
C) my case is somehow too thin, it catches the top of my side case but does fit fine when closed; hate to see the state of the thermal paste on my cpu.

i want a reasonabley quiet cooler which takes up little space is around ~£60.

i chose the H60 due to it's good preformance & compact size & noise levels, the more expensive watercoolers make much more noise thus i don't want one of them...

any thoughts? /experience with the H60?

I've just picked up an OCUK H2Flo (shame you missed it in the "this week only") which is an h60 without the fan. Can say its easily as good as a decent air cooler, and silent as can be.

I've bolted it onto my stock fans on the back of my Antec 1200, and its as cool as my old Zalman 9700, if not colder at cooling my i5 2500k @ 4.5GHz, (and I only had it at 4.2GHz on the zalman...)

In a perfect world I'd have a couple of shrouds and a second fan, but I'll be honest I think it'll only make minimal difference.

I wouldn't expect it to perform as will as the silver arrow. I just replaced a h50 and 2 Akasa Apache fans with a noctua d14. The d14 is in a different league performance-wise. Not sure if a h60 can handle a lynnfield cpu at 4.2ghz tbh, at least not at quiet fan speeds. I think you should stick with the silver arrow, its one of the best cooling solutions around. A much better investment would be a bigger case. Get some electrical insulation for the fan clips on the silver arrow. That should mitigate any risk of them touching against the gpu and causing an electrical short.

I've had the original Corsair H50 since launch - it was one of the first closed loop coolers on the market. After 3 years I'd nearly swear it's lost some of its efficiency; could be because of slow liquid evaporation, who knows? These types of coolers also need high speed fans to get the best out of them. Closed loop coolers can be great in their own way, but when it comes to quiet performance, even the big H100 looses out the the big twin tower air coolers.
