I'm not sure if I can afford the 2.66Ghz version as the cost is ridiculous. I'm wondering how the 2.0Ghz version will perform, it has Two 2.00GHz Dual-Core Intel Xeon "Woodcrest" processors with 4mb of cache per chip. How will the 2.0Ghz set up compare to the fastest G5 that they made. Does OS X take advantage of the two dual core chips? I'll be using it for Music production (Logic Audio Pro 7.2). Are they upgradeable later on? Could I get a couple of 3.0Ghz Xeons when they come down in price and slot them in?

hope you can help

But I would also hang on until mid-January after Macworld San Francisco. The Mac Pro's might get new quad-core processors and the 2.66GHz Xeons will then be the bottom spec at the price of the current 2.0GHz ones.

thanks guys, not sure if I can wait that long though, I kind of need to get cracking ASAP. Will read the articles and have a think.

cheers
