Evening, the arrival of the xbox series x this week has prompted me to look into a new TV for the living room. Currently have a 4k Bravia KD55XD8005 55" and it has been fine, nothing really exceptional about it but it has done the job. Requirements for the new TV would be 4k, HDR, 120HZ, HDMI 2.1, Freesync. Budget would stretch to £1500ish but would prefer to spend less. Would appreciate a few recommendations to help me narrow down the search. Cheers.

At that sort of money I think you've got to be shortlisting OLED. However, you haven't said what size screen you're looking for, and that could change everything.

LG is currently the lowest cost path in to OLED. The BX series gives you 120Hz refresh rate, but you'll have to step up to the CX range to get Freesync. The LG 55CX5 is around £1300. There is a small fly in the ointment though with a glitch in the software that handles VRR. LG are working on a fix.

Thanks, most of my research has pointed to an LG OLED so far. In terms of size, I would like to keep it at around 55", I would go bigger but prices seem to ramp substantially past 55". Might be worth keeping an eye on the 55CX5, might be tempted once the VRR issue is resolved.

Rtings

You don't need to do anything but go to rtings so easy to pick a TV these days. Just use their guides and never look back.

People spend too much time deciding. Literally takes me 30 seconds on rtings.
