Hi,

Currently another set of my exact RAM (2GB 6400 Geil) is pretty cheap, so I'm thinking of buying some.

My only worry is that I'll need to go to 64-bit XP (sticking with XP for now).

I've checked Gigabyte's website and 64-bit drivers are available and up-to-date.

I'm just wondering what else I may have compatibility issues with? Games? Firewall etc.?

Thanks,
Craig.

ive been 64 bit for a few weeks now with 4GB in vista 64 ultimate. not many issues tbh but i dont play many old games, nor do i have much legacy hardware that may be considred an issue,

things like HL2, TF2, CoH, FM2008 etc all work fine...

Check webcam, printers, scanners and VPN. Rest should be fine. I run a virtual machine so I can VPN to work.

I just bought another 2 GB of the Geil ULL, even though I'm currently using Vista Home Premium 32. I figured at the price of the memory at the moment, you can't really go wrong and it will be fully utilised as and when I upgrade to 64 bit.

I say get some anyway.:)

True. I'll still get around 3.2GB on 32-bit won't I?

The only thing I'm worried about with 64-bit is some older games may not like it. All my hardware is pretty up-to-date so I'm pretty sure it'd all work on 64-bit perfectly, it's just other software I'm worried about.

I have a license for PC-cillin until 2008. Any idea if they do a 64-bit (the 2007 version) that will accept my CD-key?

[Edit]
My hard drive setup will allow me to reinstall Windows pretty much instantly (nothing important is kept on the RAID0 C: drive). It is still a hassle to reinstall everything though, but maybe I'll make an image of how my PC is at the moment, install 64-bit. If all goes well then good, if not I can restore.
