always had AMD's and over the last 10 years i have been a massive shuttle fan, who no longer seem to be working with AMD, so the shuttle looking at is the Shuttle SH67H3, with the 67 mobo i believe overclocking is not really gonna happen, so i presume if i go for the Intel Core i7-2600 i won't need the 'k' version?

will any settings need to be applied in the bios for the cpu running speed? anything else i need to know with intel?

and i presume i will get a boast from Amd X4 965 :)

I am a Shuttle fan too but I would stick with what you have ATM. It is not exactly slow and when Bulldozer is released in the next few months hopefully the increased competition will mean cheaper CPUs. The new Shuttle cases support mini-ITX motherboards too. However, there is also an H7 version of the case you are looking at too:

Also,I would really consider going with a mini-ITX build too. The Silverstone Sugo SG07 and SG08 and the Lian Li Q08 are worth considering as cases. There is also a Z68 based mini-ITX being released too:

I probably will get the Q08 as it has around the same footprint as my SD37P2 but is a bit taller. I could get the case,a Z68 motherboard and a decent PSU for under £300.

thanks for the info mate, my current rig with a SSD in is fast enough for me, more than happy, its the single slot graphics card that is the bottleneck, as i want to be able to play battlefield3 in october.

i have a HD5770 in there, but think that is as best i can get being single slot

In the UK this single slot card is the fastest one available ATM:

It is around £160 to £170.

An OcUK forum member has one in their SN78SH7 but with the 500W PSU:

There is also a single slot HD6850 1GB too:

However,I cannot find it for sale in the UK ATM.

Destroy implies that it is some sort of super card, could lead to disappointment. It's better than the 5770, but it's more along the lines of what was asked.
- Yes, it is a bit more meaty than your current card. Not sure it'd be worth the move though.

Could be worth just waiting to see what single slot solutions are available in October?
The 965 is still a pretty nice CPU, if it does everything you need, it'd be a shame to spend so much money just to solve GPU cooler issues.

I always used AMD until I came to the conclusion that my 5000x2 BE did not quite cut the mustard so moved to Intel a couple of years ago and never looked back.
