Thinking of getting some of these, any recommendations

They look pricey but I think they would be quite good.

How do they work though? Would you connect them to and Amp to get the Dolby Digital? If so, how would the mic work over live, or is there 2 wires, one for the Amp and one for the controller to plug the mic in??

Well they look good but I really don't like the idea of having an optical cable running directly from the headphones to the back of the 360. I'm always sitting on my headphone cable and don't think a TOSLink will last very long.

I actually read the product spec, the toslink goes to a control box and the headphones connect to the same control box. So it would work the same way as having an amp (with headphones attached to the amp)

I read the spec as well and it wasn't clear exactly how it all connects together. It mentioned an Audio Control Station but gave no indication as to what this did apart from control the volume.

That could be really handy i like the look of that, how muchie?

Ive seen review sites that claim as low as £60. But the retail website I was going to get them from is £85. I'm not that discouraged as I would spend a lot more on a real 5.1 speaker system which would have to be turned right down as the room I play in is right next to the bedroom and has very very thin walls.

Yeah i like the idea of one set of headphones though, because currently i use headphones and end up with one ear on that and one ear on a headset (if i use the headset)
And since my Plantronics gamecom's just died, this could be an ideal replacement, since it is 5.1 and can be used for all the systems. Dunno if it has PS3 support though.

If the pS3 has optical out then it is supported

I understand from reviews the voice coms on XBL might be a bit poor as it gets mixed in with the rest of the sound. But that might be a user error rather than a headphone error.

I'd be a bit ****ed if I splashed out all that dosh and was not able to hear people in game.

Edit: The voice comms obviously wont work on the PS3 as that uses a blue-tooth headset

Right Krono i officially hate you more than i used too :p

I bought these and they have arrived at my house today, not had a chance to give them a go, just unpacked them and boy do them come with a lot of cables lol

They feel well built, a good weight too them. The mic is detatchable which i think is a nice idea, also they kinda fold back in on themselves too to make storage a bit better.
Comes with lots of connections - Optial lead, coax lead, plus the 3 phono connection thing for 5.1 sound (think it comes with the cable for that too)
Also has a couple of lengths of cable for the mic with it too.

But will update later on what the actual sound is like, i'll stick on some forza and some gears :)

Ooohhh i also noticed they come with a virate function, so i guess when i play PS3 games i will get some rumble :p

Ohh i got them off of a websites Marketplace for 63 quid, only thing is they come from germany, so you need a travel adapter for the transformer, but other than that there is no other issues that are apparent (least atm)

Oh and you can buy direct from the place in germany, i hear it saves a couple of quid on the P&P.

Well you might just change your mind and pronounce your undying love for me after your play test.

You should also play halo2 tonight with them get a real feel for things flying around your head explosions going off and the sound of my spartan nuts being thrust in your face.

If they sound good let me know and I'll pick up a pair after payday a week monday.

So long as it pipes your voice back through so you don't end up shouting down the thing ;)

I may pick up a set, when I can afford it.

I got some of these last night and im very impressed with them so far! Ill try the mic tonight going through the 360 and PS3 tonight and let you know what its like!
The only thing thats a bit weird is ive always had my 360 and PS3 sound going through an optical splitter into my z5500's, but when i plugged that splitter into the console of the headphones the 360 worked fine but the PS3 didnt work at all?
But the PS3 worked perfect going directly to the headphones console!
