Thinking of going from headphones to gaming headset, have I gone mad?!

So, I have used sennhesiers of various forms for many a year for pc use, currently have some 595's. However, the last wire I have trailing across my desk is my headphone/mic one and it is starting to annoy me. I know the usual advice is to always buy a good pair of headphones rather a headset but I am seriously thinking of getting a pair steel series nova pro wireless! This will then give me a wireless solution with built in mic, that actually from reviews don't look or apparently sound too bad. I mostly use my pc for games and a lot of YouTube/twitch watching, very little music these days. Will I regret this purchase/move away from headphones?

Only you can make that decision.

I use a pair of Momentum OE 2.0 wired with Ifi Zen v2 and a Yeti Blue mic for my gaming. Happy with it as a setup.

I personally won't get a gaming headset because 1) I like having one set of headies for everything and 2) if I do go wireless, it'll be for a pair of Airpods Max.

Don't get me wrong, I know that the wireless thing is nice and I try my best of hide the cable of my current headset but I put up with it because the combo of my Ifi Zen 2 DAC and Sennies just floats my boat.

I also know that I'll hate the sound of a gaming headset and I do mean that. I'm odd with the sound most headphones make and I just can't get behind most headphones. I listened to a paid of the Airpods Max the other day and I loved them.

Yes, I'm an Apple shill. I don't care.

Just tried the Nova Pro Wireless as well but went back to the 599s.

You'll definitely need to just try and see if you prefer one or the other.

I`m opposite I've had gaming headsets for ever and just wondering whether to go for a proper set of headphones but there are so many to choose from. Only thing is I dont use my onboard sound I always use USB.

Only wireless headset I have kept (after trying Nova Pro, A50, Corsair options (and more) were the Audeze Penrose. Still not perfect but when I don't the cable with my HD560s and G6 on the Ps5, I reach for the Penrose knowing the audio will still be fantastic. Nova Pro sounded pretty decent to start with but once the placebo wore off they still didn't hit the mark for me.

If you wear them for an extended time you may find the extra weight irksome. I used an Astro A50 headset for a long while and have switched to a Creative Labs soundbar and directional microphone.
