Just a quick one guys.

I'm currently planning my summer upgrade and will obviously be getting a C2D :D

I'm not planning on having much in the actual case TBH aside from a big ol' GFX card and 2 34gb raptors as I plan on using a small rack of external hard drives to store all of my junk

Was just looking for general opinions of SFF cases (I'll probably be getting a shuttle :D). I suppose the real questions are:
  • Do the Mobo's in the SFF PC's perform less than ATX ones?
  • Is the power supply big enough to handle a C2D and say and 8800 series GFX card
  • Are they quiet? - One assumes it's easier to keep a tower quiet than a shuttle.

Cheers guys,

Nope, not at all. In fact, they all use the same chipsets that the full ATX varients do.

Depends on the Shuttle, but all Shuttle PSUs are very efficient. I think they go up to 400W, which is more than capable of running an 8800GTX or HD2900XT.

Yes, they're very quiet. You'll probably find the most noise comes from your graphics card.

I have got a SFF computer with a C2duo and a 8800 GTS. The case I am using is a TJ08 though which is more like a mini version of a tower case. Whatever you choose be sure you measure everything is going to fit in the case before buying as space is obviously a factor when building SFF systems.

The SFF motherboards are very good, I have the Abit Fatality motherboard which is the best at the moment, although for overclocking they can only go upto about 350FSB before they stop working so they are no were near as good as full sized boards for overclocking. :)
