Well win 7 has been around long time and I'm feeling bit out of date if you know what I mean was considering to moving to Win 8.1 what do you think???

What I'm hopping to gain is some of the futures like simple emails don't have to keep login on in browser every time I want to read email? do you reckon I will miss anything from win 7???

the best bet would be to wait for win 10 but fancy something new.

Email in a dedicated browser tab is the future. Set your browser to auto-launch on boot and pin a browser tab. Modern browsers and email services are capable of displaying notifications and playing sounds when you receive new mail.

You can use StartIsBack or Start8 if you don't like the metro UI.

Future is a dedicated app, that shows as many email accounts as you have, it's a thousand times better than dedicated browser.

However you've left it kind of late. If you really want to try and find a cheap copy, just be aware the cheap £10 are almost certainly not legit and although work might get blocked sometime down the line.

You won't miss anything from win7 as there's nothing missing (bar start menu, however there is a left click menu and once you learn the new system you won't miss it & third part software to replace it if you really do),

I've just recently made the switch. I don't look back, everything from 7 works in 8.1, you just have to learn how its done in 8. Took me about half an hour.

And I never have to use the Metro start menu, I just go to the top right and search for whatever program I want.

Thanks for advice, I think I will keep win7 until win10 comes out it would be waste of money at the moment. Anyone can advice how to set up this email, also looking for some sort of solution to share files that can bee access from my computer and galaxy s5 like excel invoices ect., wouldn't mind like cloud storage so I could back up my pictures after last hard drive failed and lost all our daughter photos, Sorry if this last bit is of topic if needs to I create new topic.

Windows key + S also just brings up the search box without the rest of the Metro screen - very handy.

Do you want to use the web browser or a standalone client such as Thunderbird?

Dropbox
Google Drive

You can use applications such as Duplicati & Cobianbackup to backup data to the cloud.
