Thinking of switching BB provider to Tiscali

Currently we have Tesco Broadband and phone through BT. I have been looking into getting the Tiscali Broadband & Talk (possibly TV as well). Thinking of switching as financially it makes more sense, so my questions are:

1) What is Tiscali customer service like?
2) Is the Broadband & Talk service reliable (no drop in connection for example)?
3) Do Tesco BB willingly give MAC codes if I where to ask or should I envisage problems there?
4) Tiscali provide a wireless router. I have no intention of going wireless so could I use my current Speedtouch Modem for Tiscali BB?

Thanks for your help guys.

Re point 4, if you are moving to the equivalent type of ADSL at Tiscali, e.g. ADSL 1.1 up to 8Mb, then you are likely to be able to use your existing ADSL modem. However, their installation instructions are likely to refer to their own equipment, but generally you just need to put the ADSL username and password into a modem to make it work.

The response you are likely to get is 'don't do it' and 'awful' in response to 1 and 2.... we shall see.

All I can say is, 'you get what you pay for'.

Unless i'm mistaken or Tiscali have altered their fair-usage, It's a pittifully low amount lol

More like a daily email and a quick look on you-tube usage policy

I say NO lol (unless they have altered their CS and done away with stupidly low capping)

I've been with them for about 3 years and never had any problems until I moved home and it took them 9 weeks to get me up and running and cost me a fortune in phone calls but I have been compensated for it and to be honest I've never had any real dramas once the service was up.

dont do it, they may be cheap, but i could not even watch bbc iplayer at peak time, 6pm, and just surfing the net was pain full

Tiscalli would win the award for worlds worst ISP if I had the choice. Cheap services are usually cheap fora reason and it is usually a bad one.

You don't always get what you pay for -take o2 and BE they are cheap and excellent! but Tiscalli I had 30 odd meters of rj45 from my router to a neighbours house whilst he tried to rid himself of Tiscalli

I was going to start a thread about Tiscali until I saw this one.

I was going to ask if Tiscali were still as bad as always (I was with them before PN)

Looks like nothings changed then.

Shame, as their deals are competitive.

Indeed, they can afford to charge so little by spending so little on infrastructure and CS :)

Get yourself into the O2 thread here and get one of the guys who works there to sign you up on the F&F deal if you can get their LLU service (check on www.samknows.co.uk) :)

£7.50 per month and excellent service - as soon as my BT line is connected I'll be doing exactly that!
