Just need some quick advise.

Would a AMD Ryzen 5 5600X from a AMD Ryzen 5 2600X be a good upgrade?

Or the Ryzen 7 5800x for £80 more?

Thanks

What do you use your pc for mate also what motherboard you got as need to support the 5000 series cpu

Guess you can drop zen3 in with bios update ?

The 5600x or 5800x will give really good performance boost paired with the 3080

Mostly gaming, I manged to get hold of an Aorus 3080 master and was looking to upgrade the processer as well.

Upgrading a processor is pointless for gaming usually especially the more expensive ones.

I'd get either a 3600, 3600xt or 5600x if it's compatible with your motherboard.

Otherwise I'd save your money because the increase in FPS will be less than 5% and the cost to your pocket will be hundreds of pounds for 2-3% gain.

I would never entertain a 5800x in your shoes. Complete waste for gaming

Agree that the 5800X would be a decent upgrade. About 12% per core on top of having more cores. It’s also likely the last generation for AM4, so in a sense you’re likely to get one at some point - the only reason not to is that prices will likely go down in a year or two.

yes I think that you will see some benefit of having a 5600x with your rtx3080. also the 5600x should be a noticeable upgrade for cpu hungry games and the 5600x should last you for many years (especially as its the last am4 chip that you will be able to use on your mobo).
