Hi there

I am currently in the process of converting all of my dvd's to mp4. This process takes roughly 4 hours on my current processor which sadly isn't stable when I over-clock it (doesn't post after reboot due to ram I think). I am thinking of upgrading to a Q8200 (all I can afford) and was wondering if anyone knows how quickly this processor is at encoding at h264.

Also will this motherboard (GA-965P-DS3) support such a processor I believe it will.

Or will i be better off replacing the ram and clocking my cpu until it dies a sad death.

What Rev board are you using, according to Gigabyte you will need Rev 3.3 for the Q8200.

Rev 1.0 board will support the Q6600 cpu.
The BIOS updates for the Rev 1.0 only goes upto F13 were's the Rev 3.3 goes upto F14 which is a Beta BIOS and not sure what would happen when trying the older Rev boards.

Just got myself a Q6600, clocked to 3.0Ghz.

Takes 7 and a half minutes to encode a 349mb AVI file to DVD. :D
