Thinking of upgrading should I go Intel or AMD?

I have had my Athlon 4400 for about a year now and feel it's time to upgrade

Current system is:
Antec 900 Gaming Case
AMD X2 4400 Skt 939
2048mb DDR 400 Corsair Dual XS
ATI X1950XT 256mb GDDR4
600W Arctic PSU

I want to spend around £180-£220 on a cpu but don't know whether to switch to Intel.

My last intel was a 333mhz Celeron and it sucked, I've had AMD's since the old 1800mhz.

Is it time to not worry about Intel?
