My current system is
Asus A7NX8x2.0 Deluxe
AMD XP 2700+
1GB RAM Twinmos 2x512 sticks
128mb ATI 9800pro Flashed to XT

I am thinking about upgrading to 2GB RAM, what would you guys suggest?
Don't want to spend over £150. Would Value ram be sufficient? Or should I go for the better stuff?

I would want something that would go in my next upgrade which will probably be another ASUS motherboard and an AMD 64 CPU.

Cheers

Hi there williamw11

Thanks for your reply.
I was going to go for a memory upgrade now as I could then move the RAM over to a new system when I had the spare cash for it (hopefully in 2-3 months). I will probably be going PCIe which would mean new CPU, Motherboard and graphics card for which I don't have the cash yet.

Cheers

Asrock has agp and pci-e.
If you go for memory go for something like

G.Skill 2GB DDR HZ PC4000 (2x1GB) CAS3 Dual Channel Kit (F1-4000USU2-2GBHZ) (MY-008-GS)
Will save you using a divider if you overclock up to a certain point. 3200 memory will need a bigger divider at higher settings.

On Amd 64's once the HTT (old FSB) goes above certain levels you have to run the 3200 memory at slower speeds otherwise it wont overclock. i have to run mine at 166 or 133 which with a high htt means the memory isnt quite running at 200. If the memory clocks higher then you dont need the divider. Not the easiest to explain.

Looking at gskill's website about the memory you suggested, it doesn't have asus as a recomended motherboard manufacturer. Will there be compatability issues?
