Thinking of upgrading to a RTX3080, what else will I need to change?

I use my PC for mainly playing racing sims via an Oculus Rift S (Automobilista2/rFactor2/Assetto Corsa etc.) I'm now considering upgrading my headset for something better, but I'm thinking I'll probably need something beefier to power it.

Therefore I'm thinking of upgrading my 2070 to a 3080, but this got me wondering as to whether I'll need to make any further upgrades to my build to get the best out of any new hardware. Below is my current spec, so any pointers as to what else needs to be changed will be gratefully received.

Spec:
  • AMD Ryzen 9 3900X Processor (12C/24T, 70 MB Cache, 4.6 GHz Max Boost)
  • MSI B450 GAMING PRO CARBON AC (Socket AM4/B450/DDR4/S-ATA 600/ATX)
  • Gigabyte GeForce RTX 2070 Gaming OC 8192MB PCI-Express
  • Antec HCG Gold 650W 80 Plus Gold Modular Power Supply
  • Kingston Fury Black 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4 PC4-21300C18 3200MHz Dual Channel Kit (HX432C18FB2K216)
  • WD Green 240 GB Internal SSD M.2 SATA
  • TeamGroup 1TB L5 Lite SSD 2.5" SATA 6Gbps 3D NAND Solid State Drive
  • Dell S2719DGF 1 ms QHD 2560 x 1440 155 Hz

The build looks solid enough to me although you may want a bit more headroom on the psu as 650w is cutting it fine with the 3080s power spikes which can exceed 500w.

Assuming you’re planning to game at 5 megapixels or above the 3900X should hold out. 3200mt memory at 1-1 with the infinity fabric would help.

I went for a 850W in the end. I've installed it this evening and wired it up to my 3080. Quick question, I've run my PCIe cables like this:

Good idea, or should I go for 3 separate cables?

I would go for 3 separate cables. May not be that good looking but better safe than sorry.

Will be fine each 8 pin connector is rated at 150w so dual 8 pin connector cable is 300w another 8 pin 150w and 75w from the motherboard 525w in total.
