Hiya guys,
With Christmas almost upon us, i'm thinking about upgrading my rig a little as an early present for myself.
I'm torn between upgrading the graphics cards or the cpu( currently have no problems playing the latest games will full settings, minus some msaa, but i feel the 1gb of vram is going to hold me back with next years games.
Any ideas?
thanks

Thanks guys,
Just been checking my outgoing this month and it seems the 7950 is out of my budget :(, anything else i could get with the idea of crossfiring/sli in the new year?
Will try and sell my cards but unsure how much i can get for them.

8### series GPU's are out by mid next year.

I see, worth the wait you reckon then?

Yeah, xFire 6870 is not bad at all, you would need a 7950 to match that where your current xFire scales well.

The 8870 is going to be at least as fast as the 7950, probably a little faster (perhaps as fast as a 7970) and at around the same price as current 7870's

yeah i agree, i mean i have no problems running any games, i've just got the upgrade bug :(, maybe i'll just get some more ram and the fx8350.

If you got the upgrade bug just buy a 3570k and a z77 motherboard dont bother with the 8350 as you just be throwing good money after bad,i was with amd through bulldozer and piledriver both the eight cores and last week finally reallised i'd written off enough money and went over to intel and its the best £250 i've spent in a long time

Really, damn it's so confusing, i really wasn't looking at spending too much. £200 would be my max.

Most new games now are multithreaded and will make good use of 8 cores.

In that its as good as an Intel 3570K.

However there are some old and/or low threaded games that will only use 2 or 4 cores, those will benefit the 3570K better as it has better core for core performance.

Intel = Faster individual cores, AMD = More cores.

Humbug tell which games to compare and if i have them or can get them i will, i've still got the amd rigs and my main game is bf3 which apparently uses the extra cores of the eight cores but yet my min, avg and max fps have all increased by a good margin just by swapping the cpu

BF3, BF4, Crysis2, Crysis3, F1-2012, Dirt3 and the like.... will suit the FX-83## and the 3570K.

World of Warcraft and the like will suit 3570K and not work (as well) on the FX-83##
