FACEBOOK.

I am in the process of clearing out and tidying out my Garage so i can store a big load of other rubbish. My bro died 5 weeks ago and had to clear out his narrow boat-shed and rented garage. (static moorings) I have tools now I have always wanted -not that I will use them but it's nice to see a Snap-on tool box on the shelf.
So if I sign up for Facebook can I go straight to a page that you can sell stuff you want to get rid of(Locally) that is really too good to bin.
I want nothing else to do with facebook.
Also can you turn things off or not accept cookies or things like that. I have put it off since 2005 when I did sign up then soon signed off and never been on since.
Or - should I not even think of signing up.

I'd signed up years ago and first thing I've ever used it for last month was selling my car ...
50% of msgs is it sold yet bro, I'll offer you X, or,
people who wanted my phone# or to whatsapp them to discuss it - that I ignored, potential scam afaik
gave a few, genuine locals, my address (50% were no shows)
Use the archive chat feature to remove chats you thinks aren't genuine.

I'd probably equally use gumtree for tools though.

eBay is free to sell these days. Collection only and you can vet the buyers with seller rules, ensuring they have X amount of feedback etc.

Sorry to hear about losing your brother.

I've done the same re Facebook, and in a pathetic attempt to avoid cookies etc I only use it on one machine and only with DuckDuckGo.

As mentioned above, I found most Marketplace Groups required you to have an account of a certain age, however the Marketplace was still useable.

I only do cash on collection, and no holding things for someone, as invariably they're the no-shows.

I've bought loads of items on Marketplace but not sold overly much because you just keep getting their standard replies of "Is it still available". Most of those go nowhere.

When I want to buy something I will personalise the request so that the seller knows I'm genuine.

Everybody wants something for nothing on Marketplace, and may try to bid you down although, in general, my dealings have been positive.

If the items have any value and are postable, I'd be looking at eBay as opposed to FB Marketplace.
