Well i always been a fan of playstation and i think its time to buy a 3rd one as gt5 prologue is out and gta4 is around the corner. but witch one 40gb 60gb or 80gb version ? is there so much content you need to download that u will use all 40 gb of hard drive or it just does not matter ?

ty for help

correct but only the 40gig is on sale in the uk as the 60gb has been phased out and the 80gb hasn't reached our shores yet.

so 60 gig can play ps1/ps2 and ps3 games , but 40 gig one can play only ps3 games is that right ?

Yep, however you can only buy second hand UK 60gigs and they'll be more expensive than a brand new 40gig. I've got a theory that sony will add emulation backwards compatibility sometime later this year, but it is only a theory.

kk have to hunt down 60gig one then i live in ireland maybe we will have some.

ty for help do never new that 40 gig plays only ps3 games

The 40Gb is the only one currently available in the UK, there has been rumours of the 80GB being released as a MGS4 bundle but at present it is just a rumour as both Japan and the US have a MGS4 80Gb bundle arriving June 12 for MGS4 release date. The 40GB only has BC for PS1 games that you can either use your own ones or download from the store, and it has no PS2 compatibility. As regarding trying to find a PAL 60Gb you would be better off getting a 40 and buying a PS2 it will work out cheaper!
With regards to HDD size more is always better lol, if you use it for gaming then it will be ok, but some games need to install to the HDD so if you have more than say 10 games on the go at once you will struggle for space, you could just remove game files of games you dont play/own anymore though. Another thing to mention is the PSN movie/TV/Music download part should appear later this year so again that will use space on the HDD, and with PLAY tv coming round the corner (you can use your PS3 as dual tuner PVR) I think a bigger HDD is important. Luckily enough the PS3 has no stupid proprietary HDD so you can use any 2.5" Sata 5400 drive of any size, think 320Gb largest size ive seen so far.

yeah, definitely dont wait for the 80gb version just for the double size HDD, you can easily upgrade it yourself with no risk and very cheap

guy selling his PS2 and 5 games for 100€ on my works site.

Looking at the auction prices for 60 gb they are overpriced. Some even say the 40 gb are quieter some say they fail more often all rumours. But with the price of 2nd hand PS2s there is no reason to want a 60gb PS3 (unless you live in a 2m² box and have no space :p

i have ps2 guys still it would be nice have console that plays ps2 and not plug ing and out ps2 when u want to play ps2 games
